JOSEP MARIA PERDIGUÉS
Last March 3rd, we had an incredible visit: Josep Maria Perdigués.
He was a little boy with a dream: be an astronaut. He studied in Barcelona, he tried to find a work in this city but he didn’t find it and he went to Netherlands for work in ESA.
ESA, or the European Space Agency is Europe's gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.
He talked about some of the ESA missions, like the launch of an ESA satellite called Sentinel-2B. On March 7, a Vega rocket will take off from the European space port of Kurú, in French Guiana, to put the Sentinel-2B into orbit. The ESA mission control center in Darmstadt, Germany, will closely monitor the operation.
We asked him many question, about rockets and space ships, about life in other solar systems (we were very interested about this new planets recently discovered suitable for life!) and this new project of a man going to the moon in the next few years.
He showed us also a video about comets, and how scientists and astronomers think that could be the origin of water in our planet.
He was very kind to us and he answered all the questions with patience and a scientific approach, reminding us all the time that maths, science and study are very important at our age, because they are the base for future scientists.
Thank you, Josep Maria!!!
